Hamazkayin Scholarship Press Release
Hamazkayin Educational and Cultural Society, Western USA, the Diaspora's longest-standing cultural association, would like to announce its request for applications for three $5000 scholarships for graduate students in the areas of literature, journalism or theatre/film studies.
On Sunday, November 18, 2007, Hamazkayin, the Diaspora's longest-standing cultural association, celebrated the publication and inauguration of Forgotten Bread, a new anthology of first-generation Armenian-American writers, edited by David Kherdian. The 1st Annual Armenian-American Writers' Award Dinner and Book Signing was attended by over 450 guests and generated funding for the three scholarships.
Applicants must be residents of a western state of the U.S. (west of the Mississippi) or attending a university in a western state of the U.S. (west of the Mississippi). Applicants must be of Armenian descent, show a history of leadership and activism in the Armenian community and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
